Bob Mullner
President 1994 - 1996
During these three years we saw a significant period of consolidation throughout the club with a very high level of parental involvement across most facets of club operation.
The club had appointed a Junior Sub committee, with the responsibility of managing the junior aspects of the club operations. Under Ray Boast guidance here this committee was most active in managing, promoting and generally developing the juniors within the club.
Peter and Marlene* threw themselves wholeheartedly into the management of the canteen and bar and achieved very healthy revenues for the club through this area of operation.
On field results were mixed with senior men’s and women’s teams struggling, but with some junior teams acquitting themselves well whilst others emulated the seniors.
The steady involvement of the more experienced juniors, themselves starting to take part in the running of various club activities was great to see, particularly as these people also started taking on the responsibilities of coaching junior teams too.
A real highlight during this time was the activity undertaken by Chadstone in the hosting of the Australian U 19 championships. This, Chadstone did, to support MCC who were fielding the Open men’s championships. This was further complicated by a mix up at senior international Lacrosse level when it was found one week before they were due to arrive that a visiting American U19 team were looking to be billeted, contrary to prior understandings. Almost the entire team were billeted by Chadstone club members and parents.
The result of this activity was a spectacular carnival which was stunning in the strength of support afforded the event by all club members and which in turn was a stunning success, in that the grounds were really well prepared and looked great, with everything running very smoothly.
The people who contributed so effectively to this event are too numerous to be individually named, but all are to be congratulated and thanked.
Kudos, profit, fun and fitness were all winners over this time.
